American Curriculum
Types of Currciculum:
1. Recommended curriculum (ex. from national agency)
2. Written curriculum (ex. syllabus)
3. Taught curriculum (ex. planned activity)
4. Supported curriculum (ex. support or help in the implementation of the written curriculum)
5. Assessed curriculum (ex. examinations and evaluations)
6. Learned curriculum (ex. learning outcomes achieved by students)
7. Hidden curriculum (ex. not deliberately planned)
- In 1893 = the modern curriculum is created; art & music is left out as well as physical and vocation education.

1) Why did the NEA (National Education Association), and its Committee of 10, left the Arts out of the education curriculum in 1893?
- The committee thought this best served society and prepared them for college
- It was the most cost-efficient way in the mind of officials to teach students
2) Why did the NEA made the arts part of the curriculum in 1918?
- Made it part of the curriculum because it was post-World War I and they were desiring to show off their individualism and present themselves as the "new American"
